The poem I chose for poetry out loud is Harlem by Langston Hughes. i chose this poem because it was short and easy to memorize. it also talks about wandering what happens to dreams that are forgotten.
I am preparing for the competition by memorizing my poem and saying it with meaning. it is a short poem so it is rather easy to memorize but it is hard to add meaning to it.

robert frost poem
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost is about a man in the crossroads of his life and deciding what to do. he is using the woods to stall before he goes home because he knows he will have to choose when he gets there.
the theme is somewhat dark and dreary because of the story of the man is dark and dreary. i chose this poem because we just read it in class.

Atticus as a father.
Atticus is a Father who respects his children and almost never gets stern with them."shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit them, but remember its a sin to kill a mockingbird."(90) Atticus never reminds Jem and Scout about sins except this time. Atticus is not like other fathers in maycomb he doesnt hunt or trap, but instaed just sits and reads.
He teaches his children lifes lessons about respecting elders and common courtesy. He also teaches them that you can't judge someone just by their color and race, which is why he is defending Calpurnia's friend. Overall he is a good father.

boo radley perception
My perception of boo radley is still that he is crazy. The whole family is messed up and the town knows that they have issues.Atticus gets mad when they play the game and are making fun of boo and the whole radley family. when they try to leave the note for boo is when Atticus really started getting mad.
When they tried to peak in the window was when they crossed the line. nobody knew that was them though. when mr radley fired his shotgun was when the whole town came to the house and Atticus got suspicious when Jem didn't have pants . when he went to retrieve them though someone had sewed and folded them.

boo radley
Boo Radley is a crazy person who lives in a crazy house. He got caught up in a gang when he was young and was put in jail, then brought back home. The whole family is kind of weird, "the shutters and doors of the radley house were closed on Sundays" chapter 1 page 9. The sheriff was also called to the house when Boo stabbed his dad with scissors.
I think i am more like Dill. Dill is cautious and doesn't like to take risks. I don't like to take risks like dill.

the best thing about English so far this year is making the class rule posters. ours was about how to properly participate in class. it had some drawings of a kid sitting in a desk raising his hand. that so far is the best thing about English so far this year.
